MVHR System
MVHR stands for Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery. A system that extracts stale, moisture-laden air whilst recovering heat from it to pre-warm fresh air entering a building, improving indoor air quality and energy efficiency. The air is filtered when passing through the system.
There should be vents in the habitable rooms and wet rooms.
MEV System
This system uses a central fan and ductwork to extract air from multiple wet rooms simultaneously and exhaust it to the outside. Trickle vents in windows often supplement this system to provide fresh air.
Intermittent Fan
An "intermittent fan" is a ventilation fan that operates on a "as needed" basis, turning on and off as required by the user or triggered by a sensor. This contrasts with continuous ventilation systems that run constantly. Intermittent fans are commonly found in kitchens and bathrooms, often linked to light switches or timers, and are designed to remove moisture or odors when needed, rather than continuously.
